Pretty sure you are right. Part of the wider strategic argument coming out of Russia is that America is better being friends with Russia to contain China.
North Korea has made almost impossible progress in the past couple of years.

working in Seoul for the next 6 months and the Koreans are much calmer than the rest of the world. Kim wants to just keep pushing but knows any serious attack will be the last thing he does and, hopefully, Trump wont start a war. Basically its just a pissing contest with a lot of rhetoric and massive press coverage.

I can't see how increasing North Korea's paranoia can do Kim any harm, he just needs to do this without getting others to take action.
Firing off a harmless missile, or even one that lands on an insufficiently respectful relative, seems ideal

He's playing a fucking dangerous game, sadly though the Chinese cunts will let him carry on and it may well end in huge amounts of people being vaporised.
The Chinese could stop all this in an instant by turning off the oil, but they are so terrified of Fatty being ousted and a western leaning leader taking over that they wont do anything that will destabilise him.
They may well regret that when chunky oversteps and a huge pall of radioactive fallout starts drifting across the NK/Chinese border.

I wouldn't be worried about this if it wasn't for trump. I think n. Korea are pushing all this solely for his benefit. They are trying to find his limit here. They want him to actually show he doesn't have any real options but to talk and give them what they want.
The problem with trump is that he hates looking stupid and n. Korea seem to want to do that so much that I'm kind of worried he'll actually start something.
If anyone attacks anything it will be the USA. A load of people will die and then they will talk anyway. Just like they always do.
